Your involvement can make a significant difference in fostering a love for reading and learning among our young learners.
Additionally, we are proud to celebrate our students achievements in meeting attendance goals. Regular attendance is vital for academic success, and we appreciate your efforts in encouraging your children to be at Randall Pepper EVERY DAY and ON TIME!
Lastly, please stay connected to us as begin our transition to our school name's change to O'Day Short Elementary. We are proud to honor the past by building our future. Be on the lookout for upcoming activities to celebrate our change. I invite you to our Dedication Ceremony to the O'Day Short Elementary on August 5th.
Thank you for being an integral part of Randall Pepper! Together, we can create a nurturing and enriching environment for our students to thrive.
Warm Regards,

Fontana Unified School District will rename Randall Pepper Elementary School to O’Day Short Elementary School at the start of the 2025-26 school year, honoring the legacy of the Short family and reaffirming the District’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The decision, made during the Sept. 4 Board of Education meeting. This decision was made to commemorate the Short family’s courage in breaking Fontana’s racial barriers. The Short family tragically lost their lives in a racially motivated arson in 1945, and their home was located on the same land where Randall Pepper Elementary now stands. The renaming marks a significant step in recognizing their historical impact and ensuring their story is remembered.
