Randall Pepper Elementary School Robotics Program
Randall Pepper Elementary School is proud to celebrate the incredible achievements of our robotics program, where young innovators are building their skills and achieving international recognition. Our dedicated students have showcased their talents on the global stage, demonstrating teamwork, creativity, and determination.
In 2023, two of our talented third-graders, Keilani Aquino and Anthony Diaz-Flores, qualified for the prestigious World Robot Olympiad (WRO) Friendship Invitational Tournament held in Odense, Denmark. As members of Randall Pepper's WRO Robotics Club, Keilani and Anthony dedicated their time to mastering coding and building robots during Saturday club meetings throughout the 2022-23 school year. Their hard work paid off when they excelled at the WRO U.S. Open competition, securing their spot in the international tournament.
This is the second time Randall Pepper students have represented our school and district in this elite competition. In 2019, a five-student robotics team traveled to Aarhus, Denmark, where they partnered with students from Germany and Nigeria. Together, they created the slogan "3 Countries, 3 Teams, 1 Friendship" and were honored with the International Friendship Award, recognizing their collaboration and camaraderie.
Our robotics program was founded in 2019 by former Randall Pepper Principal and current Executive Director of Elementary Schools, Annette Beasley. Since its inception, the program has flourished, providing students with invaluable experiences that foster critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership skills. By sparking curiosity at the elementary school level, our students are better prepared for advanced STEM opportunities as they continue their educational journey.
Randall Pepper's commitment to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) education extends beyond the WRO Robotics Club. Our school also offers the SumoBot Club for students in grades 4-5, as well as "STEAM-tastic Wednesdays," where students explore coding, earth science, and other engaging subjects. In addition, we continue to expand our arts and dance programs, ensuring our students receive a well-rounded educational experience.
We are incredibly proud of our students' achievements and their ability to represent Fontana Unified and the United States on the global stage. Congratulations to Keilani, Anthony, and the entire Randall Pepper robotics team for their outstanding accomplishments!
